While I was at Warner, my theology prof commented on how the current buzzword was "leadership". He said it would only be a matter of time for the pendulum to swing and "followership" would become the next big thing.

I think one of the problems (probably the main problem) of evangelicalism is that most folks are bystanders, while Jesus' call to make disciples would fall under the diehard category. When we make church a matter of attending a service or program (youth group, small group, etc.) and call that "discipleship", the outcome will be a whole bunch of people who say they follow Jesus, but in effect will still be conformed to the patterns of this world. Any real change or instruction to follow in the way of Jesus will be accidental, not intentional.
